POTUS signs funding bill averting shutdown

March 19, 2025

The plan did not include any relief from Medicare's 2.8% reimbursement cuts that went into effect January 1.
By resorting to a full-year stopgap measure, government programs are level-funded and key research agencies, such as the National Cancer Institute, are being cut when inflation is considered. The stopgap measure also failed to include any language around prior authorization reform.

With FY 2025 appropriations finally completed, Congress now focuses on FY2026, which will begin October 1. The President’s budget outline is expected to arrive to Congress this spring, and appropriations committees are expected to begin work on budget priorities shortly.
