HP Fellowship Application Open

ASTRO is now accepting applications for its Health Policy Fellowship, a year-long program designed to provide exposure to ASTRO’s health policy reimbursement and coding activities and to develop the next generation of ASTRO health policy leaders.

Prior Authorization Issues Form

ASTRO seeks feedback about the burden that prior authorization places on radiation oncology practices and patients, which will be used to enable ASTRO to advocate for much needed reforms.

Reimbursement

This section is rich in information that educates and assists members in receiving the correct reimbursement for the cancer treatments provided to their patients. Keeping apprised of policy and coverage issues, as well as staying up-to-date on Medicare and private payer news and initiatives, are critical for running a successful practice.

Coding

The radiation oncology coding section provides information on a number of activities ASTRO engages in to ensure proper coding of radiation oncology services.

Medicare

CMS publishes Proposed and Final Rules each year that address certain provisions and changes to Medicare payment policies.

Code Development

ASTRO works in coordination with the American Medical Association’s Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Editorial Panel to establish new radiation oncology CPT codes.

Private Payers

ASTRO is actively engaged in working with private insurance organizations in areas that impact coverage and payment of radiation therapy services.

Model Policies

ASTRO model policies were developed as a means to efficiently communicate what ASTRO believes to be correct coverage policies for radiation oncology services.

Practice Management Resources

These resources were developed to provide information to the membership on topics of interest related to coding, reimbursement, coverage and practice management.
