ASTRO submitted comments to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on its Draft Interim Staff Guidance: Guidance for the Implementation of Training and Experience Requirements. The guidance is meant to help licensees comply with the regulations; it does not change the regulations. In general, ASTRO believes that the Draft Interim Staff Guidance offers clarity to regulations that at times can feel ambiguous. ASTRO’s comments provide recommendations in the following sections: board certification pathway, supervision, recentness of training and case scenarios.
