In July, the ASTRO Board of Directors approved an updated IMRT Model Policy. The revised policy expands upon appropriate indications for IMRT based on the latest clinical evidence and updated the ICD-10 code diagnosis list.

To update the policy, ASTRO’s Payer Relations Subcommittee developed an internal workgroup comprised of physician experts. The revised policy was approved by the full Payer Relations Subcommittee and Health Policy Council before being issued for a 30-day public comment period.

ASTRO has five model policies covering distinct modalities of treatment. ASTRO model policies are developed to inform and educate payers on appropriate clinical indications for coverage.
