The Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program’s Lung Cancer Research Program accelerates high impact translational research. The letter notes that the $60 million will help address the significant number of research proposals rejected recently. In fiscal year 2021, the program rejected 82 out of 119 proposals that were rated excellent or outstanding by reviewers The letter also notes that the funding should not be taken from other cancer research programs.
