ASTRO joins 123 groups urging Congress to reform Medicare payment
September 26, 2022
Last week, ASTRO joined more than 100 groups on a letter urging House and Senate leadership to reform the Medicare physician payment system. Citing years of instability, continued rate cuts and perennial lack of inflationary updates, the letter strongly urges Congress to provide relief from the barrage of cuts physicians continue to face.
ASTRO stands with the entire physician community ready to work with Congress to develop overdue long-term solutions to preserve patient access by, specifically:
- Providing relief from the scheduled 4.42% budget neutrality cut in the Medicare physician fee schedule;
- Ending the statutory annual freeze and providing a Medicare Economic Index update for 2023; and
- Waiving the 4% PAYGO sequester triggered by passage of the American Rescue Plan Act.
