Congress Urges CMS to Reduce Medicare Cuts in MPFS and RO Model
October 19, 2021
Two bipartisan letters have been sent by Congress to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services urging changes to the 2022 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) and RO Model to protect cancer patients’ access to high-quality radiation therapy services.
A House letter led by Representatives Brian Higgins (D-NY) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) gained 64 signers while a Senate letter led by Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Richard Burr (R-NC) gained 18 signers.
The letters echo ASTRO’s recommended changes to the MPFS and RO Model to help prevent unjust payment cuts that threaten patients’, especially underserved and rural populations, access to care.
