ROECSG and ASTRO Spring Symposium in May
ASTRO and the Radiation Oncology Education Collaborative Study Group (ROECSG) will host the Annual Spring Symposium on Friday, May 16, in Houston. This year’s theme is “Radiation Oncology Education as a Driver of Patient-Centered Care.” Submit your abstract today and register to attend. Accepted abstracts will be published electronically in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology · Biology · Physics.
 
Red Journal call for papers: SBRT – From Clinical Trials to Your Clinic
The Red Journal is announcing a new special issue focused on data from SBRT trials that informs clinical practice. The journal is interested in papers that are important for growing the evidence base for SBRT; the clinical implementation of SBRT; and technical or biological innovations in SBRT. Review the full details on the call and submit your manuscript to be considered for the special issue by June 30.

MedPAC recommends tying MPFS update to MEI
For 2026, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) is recommending that Congress replaces current law updates to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) rates with a single update equal to the projected increase in the Medicare Economic Index minus 1%. The Commission also recommends that safety net add-on payments be issued for services delivered to low-income Medicare beneficiaries. For more information, see What’s Happening in Washington.
 
ASTRO-BCRF Radiation Oncology Visiting Away Rotations for medical students
Applications are open for the ASTRO-BCRF Radiation Oncology Visiting Away Rotations. The award provides financial support to talented medical students from communities underrepresented in medicine to participate in four-week clinical or research rotations. Any medical student who demonstrates an interest in radiation oncology can apply; preference will be given to medical students in their third or fourth year. Help us spread the word to your medical students! Applications are open year-round but early application is encouraged.

ASTRO is initiating a task force to develop a replacement guideline on Whole Breast Irradiation. Interested members may apply for consideration by February 5. Please forward this information to any colleagues who may be interested.
