Reminder: Call for Volunteers open now through May 2
Interested in serving on an ASTRO committee and/or subcommittee? Act now to be considered for service. Visit the Call for Committee Volunteers online, where you may select up to two committees in order of preference.The committee volunteer process will remain open until May 2. Volunteers who are selected to serve will be notified no later than August 1, 2025. Follow this Roadmap to Committee Service for important dates throughout the process. Note: To assist ASTRO leadership in making appropriate committee appointments, please complete or update your Statement of Disclosure when you volunteer.
 
President’s Corner – An interview with Dr. Vapiwala, getting involved with ASTRO
In his latest President’s Corner, ASTRO President Sameer Keole, MD, FASTRO, talks with President-elect Neha Vapiwala, MD, FASTRO, about the importance of becoming involved with ASTRO. This is especially timely today, because the ASTRO Call for Volunteers is open through May 2. Dr. Vapiwala shares a bit about her background, her involvement with ASTRO through the years, what she sees as the biggest challenges for the specialty and her strong feeling about the important role of residency programs to train competent and caring academic and community practice physicians. eContouring for Head and Neck Cancer Webinar – Registration now open
Registration is open for the eContouring for Head and Neck Cancer Webinar. This webinar will take place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time, and will be led by Jared Robbins, MD. This ASTRO Academy webinar will review principles for effectively treating oropharyngeal cancers with radiation therapy and offers access to hands-on contouring practice on real cases in addition to a live webinar with time for Q&A. ASTRO members receive a discount.
 
Last call for comments on draft guideline on gastric cancer
Please provide feedback on the draft guideline, Radiation Therapy for Gastric Cancer. The guideline covers a broad scope, including resectable disease, unresectable but nonmetastatic disease, locoregionally recurrent disease and metastatic disease, including oligometastases. Please review the guideline and submit comments through the webform by Monday, April 21. You can also access the draft guideline and webform at www.astro.org/PublicComment.

ASTRO’s 2025 EAGL awardees announced
ASTRO has awarded 14 radiation oncology residents EAGL awards to attend Advocacy Day 2025 in Washington, DC, May 19-20. This “Emerging Advocacy Grassroots Leadership” award, which helps defray travel costs, recognizes radiation oncology residents and nurses passionate about advocating for the specialty and our patients. Advances in Radiation Oncology Call for Papers: Radiation Indications for Non-malignant Conditions
Advances in Radiation Oncology is pleased to announce a new Call for Papers: Radiation Indications for Non-malignant Conditions. Increasingly, radiation is being recognized as an important part of multidisciplinary management for a host of musculoskeletal, rheumatologic, dermatologic, cardiovascular and neurologic conditions. This special issue will evaluate the applications of contemporary radiotherapy in the management of such conditions.

The deadline for manuscript submission is November 3, 2025. To submit, please send papers through the journal’s submission system and select “SI: Non-Malignant Conditions” as the article type. All accepted manuscripts will be eligible for a 30% APC discount. Please reach out to the editorial office with any questions at [email protected].
