ASTRO signs on to letter opposing extravasation legislation
ASTRO, together with six other organizations, sent letters to congressional committees of jurisdiction opposing the Nuclear Medicine Clarification Act (H.R. 6815). If enacted, the bill would increase regulatory and financial burden without providing significant radiological or patient safety benefits by requiring radiopharmaceutical extravasations be reported as medical events. Radiopharmaceutical extravasations are currently managed effectively by medical professionals and do not require additional regulatory burden. For more information, see What’s Happening in Washington.
