ASTRO 2024: Clinical Trials, Plenary and LBAs scheduled |
![]() |
Key sessions from the Scientific Program have been scheduled. Clinical Trials, Plenary and Late-breaking Abstracts are now set! Add these items to your meeting schedule using the Annual Meeting Portal. The Clinical Trials and Plenary sessions showcase abstracts of scientific significance deemed to have the highest merit and greatest impact on radiation oncology research and practice. Late-breaking Abstracts are original research abstracts containing important late-breaking research results that were not available by the regular abstract submission deadline. You won’t want to miss these sessions! There’s still time to register to participate in person or virtually. |
ASTRO 2024 private interview rooms |
ASTRO offers private interview rooms for rent during the Annual Meeting. These rooms are ideal if you have multiple interviews to conduct or prefer to interview applicants in a private setting. A limited number of private interview rooms are available for three-hour periods. Email Todd Karstaedt for more information and to book in advance. |
Extended deadline for public comments: August 26 |
ASTRO seeks your feedback on two important draft documents. Please review and submit comments by Monday, August 26. Both can be accessed at www.astro.org/publiccomment or through the following individual links:
Quality and Safety Considerations for Radiopharmaceutical Therapy: An ASTRO Safety White Paper (draft). This consensus-based document focuses on the initiation and maintenance of a therapeutic radiopharmaceutical program in radiation oncology, workflow considerations, and quality and patient safety considerations. Draft DVH metrics for targets and normal tissues for six disease sites: lung, head and neck, breast, prostate, rectal and liver. Each disease site can be reviewed individually. |
Today is National Medical Dosimetrist Day |
Dosimetrists are critical members of the interdisciplinary radiation oncology clinical team and this day offers an opportunity to acknowledge their contributions. To celebrate dosimetry’s input to error prevention, RO-ILS shares a new de-identified “great catch” event in which dosimetry peer review identified an upstream error in the prescription. Additionally, three dosimetrists have been identified as safety stars and are being nationally recognized for their contributions to patient safety. Join us in congratulating these well-deserving dosimetrists and take this opportunity to thank and celebrate your dosimetry colleagues! |
Task Force guideline on Hodgkin lymphoma application open |
ASTRO is initiating a task force to develop the first ASTRO guideline on Radiation Therapy for Hodgkin lymphoma. To expand the pool of potential task force members, interested members may apply for consideration by Monday, September 2. We also encourage you to share this opportunity with any colleagues that would be interested. |
