Biographical Statement
Originally from Salvador, Brazil, I moved to the United States to complete my undergraduate studies in computer science. While in college I completed an NIH-funded summer internship that exposed me to the medical field. I joined the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and knew at that point that I wanted to pursue medicine as a career. Oncology has always been in my radar from the beginning although I was leaning towards Medical Oncology at first. I had little exposure to radiation oncology while in medical school and had been told that I would not have enough patient interactions. But during my internal medicine years I was able to interact with the field and it truly caught my attention and interest. My goal is to work with ARRO and the Equity and Inclusion Subcommittee to support and empower radiation oncology trainees from all backgrounds but especially those underrepresented in medicine. I am passionate about radiation oncology, patient care, patient education and workforce diversity. I look forward to representing all radiation oncology residents and voicing their concerns.
