Biographical Statement

I was raised in San Jose, California, and California is where I consider home. I was fortunate to attend Duke University for college, where I studied biomedical engineering, biology and chemistry. After graduating from college, I spent time in San Francisco working at the J. David Gladstone Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine and in Washington, DC, working as a data analyst at The Advisory Board company, a health technology company. While living in Washington, I worked as a home hospice volunteer which motivated me to apply to medical school and set me up for a career in cancer care. I was fortunate to attend UC San Diego School of Medicine where I quickly approached James Murphy, MD, and Brent Rose, MD, UC San Diego radiation oncologists who served as my first mentors in the field. I spent an additional year pursuing a Masters of Advanced Studies in Clinical Research and conducted health services research.

For the past two years, I have served as a member of the communications subcommittee. My goal is to promote community among trainees in our field and discuss important topics in radiation oncology not covered in our residency curriculum.

My non-medicine interests include traveling, cooking, music, spending time with my family, Bay Area sports, especially the San Francisco 49ers and Duke basketball.

Biographical Statement

I grew up near Columbia, South Carolina, and attended college at the University of South Carolina. Following this, I earned my MD at GWU. After my first year of medical school, I was awarded an ASTRO Minority Summer Fellowship where I completed research on proton therapy at the Johns Hopkins University Sibley Memorial Hospital. This experience was pivotal in my decision to pursue radiation oncology. My research interests include women’s health, sexual toxicity of radiation, and access to care. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, going to concerts, reality tv shows and trying new restaurants!
