BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

In the wake of the ACA, I realized even the best physicians can only do so much good if the system in which we practice is itself broken. To truly optimize care by improving the system, I became the first student to complete the joint MD/JD program at the University of Virginia. During medical school, I also discovered clinical research as another avenue to more globally optimize patient care. I completed my training at Moffitt Cancer Center, where I served as Chief Resident and as Chair of the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology.

I have been active in multiple areas within ASTRO since early in my time as a resident, but have focused my efforts in advocacy, both in government relations/health policy, but also for trainees in radiation oncology. Since transitioning to Early Career faculty, I have shifted the latter efforts to advocate for and support Early Career practitioners within radiation oncology as the Inaugural Chair of the Early Career Committee.

I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, where I serve as the Acting Director of Hematologic Radiation Oncology and Director of Medical Student Education. I serve as a Council Member in the International Lymphoma Radiation Oncology Group, as well as on multiple committees focused on radiation and hematologic malignancies within NRG Oncology, SWOG, and ECOG. My research interests are in optimizing combinations of radiotherapy with cell and other novel systemic therapies in the management of hematologic malignancies, as well as leadership and professional development.
