Guideline Task Force Applications

ASTRO welcomes applications for participation in upcoming clinical practice guidelines. ASTRO is currently seeking applications / nominations (self or other) for an upcoming guideline task force on Hypofractionated Radiation Therapy for Localized Prostate Cancer. The deadline to apply is Monday, July 29th.

Task Force Member Roles and Participation Requirements

Task force members use their clinical expertise to:

• Inform the topic scope/key questions.
• Interpret evidence.
• Develop guideline recommendations and supporting text.
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of the guideline.

Every task force member is expected to contribute on calls, participate in writing and work with the task force chairs and ASTRO staff to adhere to the project timeline. Guideline development takes approximately 18 months.

ASTRO’s clinical practice guidelines are managed by its Guideline Subcommittee, who are committed to including representation from a variety of stakeholder backgrounds and perspectives on each task force.

ASTRO advocates for a diverse and inclusive environment within the society, as well as the global radiation oncology community. As such, we are seeking diversity of race, ethnicity, gender, experience, practice setting and geographic location. Also, although most task force members will be radiation oncologists or radiation physicists, we intend to create a multidisciplinary task force and welcome applications/nominations of physicians from associated specialties, e.g., medical oncology and surgical oncology.

Specific Requirements Include:

• Submitting comprehensive disclosure information and keeping guidelines staff informed of any changes for the duration of the project (members must meet ASTRO disclosure policy requirements for participation).
• Reviewing project scope/key questions, evidence tables and project-specific documents.
• Providing written assignments and additional input in a timely manner.
• Participating in five to 10 conference calls (each 1 to 1.5 hours in duration).
