Announcing the 2024 Class of Fellows, RT content on Epic, ASTRO awards seed grants

ASTRO names 2024 class of Fellows
ASTRO is pleased to announce that 48 members will receive the ASTRO Fellow (FASTRO) designation. The 2024 class of Fellows will be inducted during the Awards Ceremony at ASTRO’s 66th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, joining a distinguished group of colleagues. The Fellows program, which began in 2006, honors longtime Active, International and Emeritus members of ASTRO who have given significant service to the Society and have made contributions to the field of radiation oncology. Congratulations to the 2024 Fellows!

 

 
RTAnswers content now available on Epic platform
In collaboration with Epic, the ASTRO Communications Committee is working toward integrating radiation-related patient educational material into the MyChart patient portal. The goal of this collaboration is to provide accurate and timely information as patients travel through their radiation oncology journey. The first care companion module is for patients being referred to radiation oncology for definitive management of intact prostate cancer. Learn more about how it works and how to ensure the radiation oncology prostate care plan is available in your institution’s latest Epic update.
 

The latest ASTROnews is now out!

The summer issue addresses challenges and solutions to workforce issues across the radiation oncology technical team. Articles include perspectives from members of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists (AAMD), and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), as well as a look at the workforce globally. You’ll also learn more about the RO-ILS 10-year anniversary, Society updates from last quarter and more!

 
AM 2024: Last call for late-breakers and don’t forget add-on events
Time is running out to submit your late-breaking abstract. Learn more and submit by this Friday, July 12! ASTRO 2024 is shaping up to be a great opportunity for networking, learning and recharging as we focus on topics of importance to the radiation oncology community. Remember to check out these add-on events during (or even after) registration and learn more about the Radiopharmaceuticals Therapy Workshop, the ROI 5K, adding a box lunch to the ARRO Seminar, the Women of ASTRO Luncheon and tickets for the ASTRO Bistro.
 
ASTRO awards four Seed Grants
ASTRO is pleased to award the ASTRO Residents/Fellows Seed Grants to Mark Chen, MD, PhD, and Nipun Verma, MD, PhD, to support their upcoming research initiatives. Additionally, Nicholas Eustace, MD, PhD, and Wilson Mai, MD, PhD, have been selected as recipients of the honored ASTRO-LUNGevity Seed Grant.

Congratulations to all recipients for their contributions to oncology innovation. These recognitions come as a result of their innovative proposals which were selected for their potential to advance the field. Learn more about ASTRO's funding opportunities.

 
New oligometastatic cancer presentation for providers
Adding to our growing list of slide decks available for members, the Radiation for Oligometastatic Cancer: Contemporary Principles and Future Directions PowerPoint is now available. The slides are designed to serve as a resource for radiation oncologists to use when speaking about the role of radiation therapy for oligometastatic disease. The slides can be customized to fit your audience, whether you’re presenting to medical oncology faculty and fellows or any target audience, and are available for download, along with an expanding selection of presentations.
