Medical Student Q&A on November 11, 8:00 p.m. Eastern time
Are you a medical student looking to learn more about the field of radiation oncology? Do you know medical students interested in radiation oncology? Join us for our bi-monthly Medical Student Q&A on Monday, November 11, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, where you will have the opportunity to meet faculty and resident radiation oncologists and ask any questions you have about how radiation is used to treat cancer, career paths within the specialty, research opportunities, the residency application process and tips for being a competitive applicant. Oral Boards study groups
Need a study group for oral boards prep or know a PGY-6 who does? The ARRO-coordinated oral boards study groups are back! Fill out this form to get matched with a resident or new-attending group; we will ensure the group is appropriate for your studying needs. We will solicit entries until the end of the year, with emails going out to formed groups in January 2025. For questions, email Mustafa Basree, DO, or Shane Neibart, MD.
Hear from 2024 ASTRO/ARRO Global Health Grant Awardees
Join us December 2 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time as the 2024 ASTRO/ARRO Global Health Grant awardees discuss their projects and provide practical advice to residents who are currently building their own research proposals. The Global Health Scholars Program was established in 2011 and awards a $2,500 grant to four residents to pursue a resident-designed project in the field of global health and further encourage international outreach and academic pursuits among radiation oncology residents. The Virtual Coding and Coverage Seminar includes the 2025 Coding Resource
The Virtual Coding and Coverage Seminar on Saturday, December 7, will address coding and coverage policies specific to radiation oncology, coding pitfalls, how to assign accurate coding to a clinical case study, health care reforms and their impact on radiation oncology reimbursement and more. View the schedule for an in-depth look at what will be covered. The goal of this seminar is to make clinical coding easier to understand and apply for radiation oncology practices. The Resource Corner!
This month’s featured educational resource is Rad Onc Talks! Rad Onc Talks is a lecture series designed for students and residents of radiation oncology. These lectures attempt to break down complex topics in radiation oncology in an easy, approachable and evidence-based manner. The goal is to make the literature less daunting, and to present big picture ideas and key takeaways. Also, check them out on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) @radonctalks.
ASTRO 2025 Call for Education Session Proposals is Open
ASTRO’s 67th Annual Meeting will take place September 28 – October 1, 2025, in San Francisco. The meeting theme is Rediscovering Radiation Medicine and Exploring New Indications. Once again, we will offer an in-person conference along with a virtual option to provide flexibility and fit the needs of our members and the radiation oncology community. ASTRO continues to broaden the call for education session proposals to diversify and enrich the Annual Meeting Education Program. You are invited to review the eligibility and session proposal scoring criteria on the ASTRO website. Submitting a session proposal provides an opportunity to share important information, research and insights with colleagues and leaders in the field. If you are interested in participating and sharing your expertise, be sure to fully submit your proposal online via the ASTRO submission site by 11:59 p.m. Pacific time, on Monday, January 6, 2025.

We're thrilled to announce the upcoming ASTRO Residents/Fellows Radiation Oncology Seed Grants, designed to support innovative research projects at their early stages. This year, the funding amount for ASTRO Seed Grants has increased from $25,000 to $50,000. Please check out the Request for Proposals, due February 7, 2025.
