#DEIinRO: Social Education Series
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Radiation Oncology (DEIinRO) is a social education series targeting and discussing key issues on diversity, inclusion and belonging within the field of radiation oncology. Each session which features key experts on the designated topic, will be livestreamed on the ASTRO Academy.
All sessions will be recorded and posted in the ASTRO Academy after the sessions conclude. Sessions are free. Registration is required.

Session Description: This webinar, titled How to Say No, will focus on strategies for setting healthy professional boundaries, including the skill of opportunity discernment. Designed for early and mid-career professionals, the session will address the pressures that can arise from balancing numerous responsibilities and opportunities, particularly within the demanding fields of radiation oncology and medical physics. The webinar will delineate specific strategies for making work more manageable, including strategies that women (and those of any gender tending toward people pleasing) may find particularly helpful given societal and professional obligations placed uniquely on them.
Through interactive small group discussion and examining specific scenarios, participants will practice how to assertively manage professional demands while maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and supervisors, all in pursuit of a sustainable and fulfilling career. This session will be of value to all professionals wishing to interact with peers and colleagues within radiation oncology and medical physics. CME and CMPAP credits are available.

In this webinar, located on the ASTRO Academy, Jeffrey Cao, MD, MBA, Adrianna Masters, MD, PhD, Kelly Paradis, PhD, and Jessica Schuster, MD, will explore the challenges and opportunities parents in Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics face. By the end of this session, we hope to increase awareness of policy advancements and opportunities to support parents in medicine and empower attendees with knowledge to navigate the transition to and from parental leave. Our speakers represent birthing and non-birthing parents, hold varying roles and titles in Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics, and provide unique cross-national perspective of both U.S. and Canadian policies.
