The ASTRO-BCRF Annual Meeting Trainee Travel Awards support the growth of early career physician and scientist leaders who are committed to improving health outcomes through quality patient care, education, advocacy and research. Travel awards of $2,000 each will be awarded to the top 10 scoring applications submitted by medical or graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and residents attending the ASTRO 2025 Annual Meeting. Supported by the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Eligibility Requirements
The applicant must be:
- A current medical student, graduate student, post-doctoral fellow or resident-in-training.
- An ASTRO member. Learn more about signing up for ASTRO membership at no cost to students, fellows or residents.
Application Criteria
Applicants must submit:
- A complete online application
- Two-page curriculum vitae
- One-page personal statement outlining career goals, talent, motivation and interest. The evaluation of applicants will be based on their prior accomplishments, financial need and evidence of a commitment to improving health care access. Applicants are encouraged to discuss their academic and personal highlights as well as how receiving the scholarship will assist them in reaching their educational and professional goals.
- The individual’s mentor, program director or department chairman must support applicant’s eligibility for the award and provide a letter of recommendation with an assessment of:
- The quality of work and contributions of the candidate to improve health care access
- The personal character of the candidate
- Overall potential of the candidate as a radiation oncologist
- An applicant is eligible to receive only one travel award for the Annual Meeting. An active participant in an ASTRO program that provides travel support to attend the Annual Meeting will not be eligible for this award.
Award
Ten travel award recipients will receive an award in the amount of $2,000 to help defray the costs of in-person attendance at the ASTRO 2025 Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA. This award is supported by the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and ASTRO’s Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Council.
