The ASTRO 2008 member survey is now available. New for 2008 are surveys targeted to physician, non-physician, radiation biologist and medical physicist members of ASTRO. These new versions of the survey address specific questions relevant to each group. Another new feature is the ability to leave the survey and return at the point you left without losing any previous answers.

ASTRO is pleased to announce the 2008 Fellows recipients. These outstanding individuals were chosen based on their significant contributions to the Society and to the field of radiation oncology. They will receive their FASTRO designations on September 23rd at the award ceremony being held during the Society's 50th Annual Meeting in Boston.

ASTRO has lowered the prices on its patient brochures to $5 for members and $7.50 for nonmembers for 50 brochures. The price of the popular Radiation Therapy for Cancer booklet has been lowered to $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers for 25 booklets.

ASTRO is offering a one-day training designed to help prepare you and your hospital for potential radiation incidents. From evaluating and treating patients to talking to the press, the Nuclear Radiologic Preparedness Course prepares you to participate in your local emergency response team. It will take place Saturday, September 20, from 10:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. This is a ticketed event that requires registration.

ASTRO’s Performance Assessment for the Advancement of Radiation Oncology Treatment (PAAROT) has launched and is free to members for 2008. PAAROT has been approved by the American Board of Radiology and satisfies the ABR’s Part IV Practice Quality Improvement of its Maintenance of Certification program.
