Image Guided Radiotherapy Symposium
Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Spa
Newport Beach, Calif.
March 28-30, 2008
Image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) represents rapid technical advances that revolutionized radiation therapy by incorporating the best of IMRT, 3-D conformal radiotherapy, etc. with the element of image guidance during treatment delivery. IGRT continues to evolve, and it will be several more years before we fully understand the optimal techniques, judicious use and clinical outcomes. For the adaptation of IGRT and Stereotactic Radiotherapy, the successful clinic needs to review and decide on patient selection, immobilization options, set-up uncertainties, multimodality imaging, image registration, 4D-CT imaging, respiratory gating and correction methods when needed, patient and organ motion evaluation and monitoring techniques, image guidance systems, optimal work flow solutions, decision making processes for the acceptance of daily image guidance, and storage and retrieval of image guidance for further adaptation of IGRT. IGRT has the potential to significantly improve the therapeutic ratio by reducing toxicity and improving control rates. IGRT is hardware, software and labor intensive and continues to be refined with more efficient work flow solutions.
Program Format
2 ½ Day Symposium - Didactic lecture, panels and how-to sessions.
Travel Grants
Travel grants are available to fully fund the travel costs of those who may otherwise not be able to attend. To encourage participation in smaller ASTRO symposia and ASTRO-sponsored symposia, ASTRO has established a fund to subsidize meeting attendance. ASTRO will award $1,000 for domestic travel and $1,500 for international travel. Click Here to access the travel grant application with full instructions and criteria.
The Travel Grant deadline is Friday, February 1, 2008.
