Getting Around Boston

Boston Logan Airport is 12 miles from downtown Boston. Outbound scheduled buses, shared ride and long distance vans, taxis, and hotel and rental car courtesy vans are located in the arrival area of each terminal.

Taxi

On average, a one-way taxi ride from the airport to downtown can range from $20 to $45. All areas within a 12 mile radius of downtown Boston are charged by meter. All fares departing Logan Airport are charged an additional fee of $2.25, plus a $5.25 fee for harbor tunnel crossings. If you are departing to a hotel outside the 12 mile radius of downtown Boston, there will be a flat rate charged.

Shuttle Buses

Shuttle buses will operate between official ASTRO hotels and the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Shuttle bus service will be provided continuously throughout the day starting on Saturday, September 20, 2008, and ending on Thursday, September 25, 2008, for anyone who has booked a room through the ASTRO Housing Center. The shuttle bus schedule will be posted on the ASTRO Web site and will be included in the official Annual Meeting Final Program.

Subway

Boston's downtown transportation system, better known as the "T", connects all of Boston and its suburbs by subway, standard rail, bus and commuter boat. The "T" connects the airport with the convention centers and hotels, as well as point-to-point access anywhere in the city. The new Silver Line offers direct public transportation to the new Boston Convention and Exhibition Center from both the airport and downtown Boston via the Seaport World Trade Center.

For more information on the "T" please visit the Massachussetts Bay Transportation Authority at www.mbta.com.
