ETC Structure, Subcommittees and Key Tasks
Emerging Technology Committee (ETC)
- Evaluate new and emerging technology and new and evolving procedures that impacts the practice or the science of radiation oncology.
- Establish ETC priorities.
- Develop practices and procedures for ETC.
- Monitor progress of ongoing ETC evaluations.
- Assign responsibilities to appropriate subcommittees.
- Monitoring Subcommittee (MSC)
- Create a mechanism to identify and track new and emerging technologies with the potential to affect radiation oncology.
- Recommend new assessment projects to the Steering Subcommittee.
- Consider requests for assessments from outside of the ETC.
- Monitor literature on emerging devices or procedures.
- Compare completed ETC reports with the most recent data to determine whether reports require updates.
- Evaluation Subcommittee (ESC)
- Establish assessment mechanism(s) for identified technologies.
- Assist stakeholders in study of new and emerging technologies to evaluate safety and efficacy of new technology.
- establish criteria for investigation, review and reporting
- Establish task groups for specific evaluation projects.
- Prepare initial evaluation reports for ETC review.
