Job Title: Director of Research Grants and Awards
Job Description:
Incumbent will direct and lead the society’s research award activities, initiatives and services. The director works closely with our volunteer councils and committees to develop and carryout our research award agenda in order to promote research among the ASTRO membership, particularly the junior members. Individual also implements ASTRO’s guideline development process and collaborates with other interested organizations on guideline development. Other major responsibilities include:
• Conducting, analyzing and disseminating findings from census surveys of radiation oncology practice locations and treatment patterns.
• Serving as lead staff liaison to the Research Council Board Members and supervising committee and subcommittee activities and staff.
• Representing ASTRO at relevant research-related meetings held by governmental and non-governmental organizations and identifying potential collaborations and seeking ASTRO’s inclusion in such activities.
Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree in related field (M.S., M.P.H., or equivalent) and five years of related work experience with a medical-health related trade association or NCI, NIH, FDA, AHRQ, NCQA or NQF.
- Strong project management and planning skills with ability to work at a fast pace, determine priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
- Knowledge of research and evidence-based methods with the ability to analyze research related to radiation oncology.
- Strong decision-making and problem solving skills with ability to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues.
- Human resource management with the ability to manage staff towards the successful achievement of established goals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to interact effectively with contacts inside and outside the association with the ability to present complex technical issues and options and be viewed as an expert resource.

Job Title: Education Program Coordinator
Job Description:
The individual in this position will work as part of our education team providing support during the planning and execution of our small meetings, Annual Meeting and other education related activities of the Society.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in a related field.
- Two to three years previous work experience preferably in the education department of an association.
- Superior organizational and planning skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work with volume.
- Proficiency in MS Office, exceptional skills in Excel preferred.

Job Title: Health Policy Analyst
Job Description:
The incumbent will provide support for ASTRO’s AMA/Specialty Society Relative Value Update (RUC) Committee activities including data entry and the fielding and tabulating of surveys. In addition, the individual will conduct literature searches in support of ASTRO’s CPT proposals; assist in monitoring and analyzing economic policy issues, such as Medicare coding and reimbursement, federal and local regulations related to radiation oncology and activities of the Society that focus on the economics of managing a physician practice, reimbursement, managed care and similar issues. Individual will also maintain primary and secondary sources of data to support the Society's health economic policy decisions and draft articles and comment letters on coding and billing issues for ASTRO’s communications and publications. This position serves as staff liaison to the Emerging Technology Committee and follows health policy issues in the Federal Register, other regulatory publications, and through attendance at meetings and other related activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred.
- Previous experience with RUC activities preferred.
- Three to five years experience related to public health policy, specifically related to physician practice issues preferred.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills (including basic statistics).
- Strong computer skills, including experience with relational databases, moderate to advanced proficiency in Access and Excel modeling preferred.
- Familiarity with various payment systems and CPT codes preferred.
